Information
Suzlon, a major Indian wind energy company headquartered in Pune, Maharashtra, India, is now entering the solar market, and has entered the solar market since January 2016, when it seized the 210-megawatt (megawatt) solar plan in Telangana state. , in April 2016, it acquired 5 more solar companies in Maharashtra, which can support many recent solar bids in India.

Originally, Suzlon mainly engaged in vertically integrated wind energy, from wind turbine manufacturing to installation. Started to develop solar energy, signed a 210 megawatt plan in Telangana in January, signed six 25-year power purchase contracts with power companies, and also received the latest tender from Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) The 70-megawatt project in Maharashtra won the bid; in March, the purchase price was 5.07 Indian rupees per kilowatt-hour, about NT$2.46, and the bid for the 60-megawatt project in Rajasthan and Jharkhand 150 MW and 25 MW plans.

In order to meet the needs of these plans, on April 19, 2016, Suzlon announced that it would acquire 5 solar energy companies in one go, namely: Gale Solarfarms, Tornado Solarfarms, Abha Solarfarms, Aalok Solarfarms, Shreyas Solarfarms, all 5 companies were acquired at face value of stock, but Suzlon did not disclose the total transaction amount, and none of the five companies currently have plans or assets in progress. After the acquisition, they will be mainly used as special purpose vehicles (SPVs) for solar energy projects. Special purpose entities are usually used for off-balance sheet financing and risk isolation, so that when companies develop high-risk new businesses, they can isolate risks, so as not to endanger the enterprise itself due to investment failures.

Suzlon has so far installed wind power equipment with a total capacity of 15 gigawatts (gigawatt) for customers, and is now turning to solar energy, but the Indian solar market is also quite competitive at present, and the minimum power purchase contract price has been pressed to 4.34 yuan per kilowatt-hour in India Rupee, equivalent to NT$2.11.
