Information
Although the development of wind power in Africa and the Middle East is slow, it can still be seen that more and more countries are beginning to recognize the importance of wind power and begin to develop wind power. In 2013, the new installed capacity of wind power in the whole Africa and the Middle East was only 90MW, and the cumulative installed capacity just exceeded GW to reach 1.255GW. In 2014, South Africa's wind power development will take a leap. In addition, several countries including Ethiopia, Morocco, Kenya, Jordan, Tanzania and Saudi Arabia have also proposed long-term wind power construction plans.

Although Africa has very good wind resources, especially in the coastal areas and eastern highlands, such as the East African Rift Belt, wind power development in these regions is still limited. The current cumulative installed capacity of 1255MW wind power is mainly concentrated in 9 countries, Egypt (550MW), Morocco (291MW), Ethiopia (171MW), Tunisia (104MW), Iran (91MW), Cape Verde (24MW), South Africa (lOMW), Israel (6. 259W) and Kenya (5MW).

In the future, with the development of projects in sub-Saharan Ethiopia, Tanzania and other regions, the resurgence of wind power in Morocco in North Africa and the launch of large-scale bidding projects in South Africa, Africa will usher in the era of GW installed capacity.
